Franks Great Fall _ Beta V.0003
Welcome to a very rough version of my first GB Studio game Frank's Great Fall. Uploading for practice and to share with the GBStudio discord.
Basic move controls and jump. Press down to duck when in minecart.
Double tap in a direction to run
Can jump off ropes and ladders in most areas. Some areas the ability is disabled for game play reasons or speed optimizations.
There is fall damage if you fall too far. Looks for small green mushrooms to soften the impact or ropes/ladders to grab a hold of.
The game is broken up into Caves/Levels/Scenes. Cave 01 and Cave02 are the most completed areas. The latest version 0024 will start in Cave 01 Level 01 scene 01 and you should be able to play through to Cave 03 Level 02 scene 03 .
Through out the game you should be able to press the select button to enter a Development level select menu. This will get you out of being stuck or if something glitches :D . If you are from the GBS discord and you find a glitch, please drop me a note.
In the works;
Smooth transitions between scenes to make the levels feel large.
Player attacks (pickaxe, shovel, tnt)
Bonus areas and puzzles,
Boss areas
Completing Cave01 Scene 01(falling zones) and Cave01 Scene02 (Swimming zones)
Adding the rest of Cave03(mole run) and Cave04(lava kingdom)
Planning final area and boss.
And again, very rough version. May have game breaking bugs or areas that you will get stuck in. Use the select button to go to the Dev Menu.
Update 02/07/2025:
Added basic swimming mechanics and basic fish actors into swimming levels.
Swim left and right using directional pad. Swim up and down by pressing the Directional pad and pressing the jump button. Pressing the jump button while moving right and left will result in a small speed boost in the direction you are swimming.
02/27/2025:
Added a Pocket version of the downloadable rom.
Prettied up the swimming levels with updated tiles and pallets. Tweaked some of the swimming mechanics and altered the level layouts in some areas.
In other levels that have water running down slopes, the player will now water slide. Fixed swimming mechanics on those levels when player falls into pools.
In the minecart areas, the camera now offsets to show more of the level in front of the player to allow more reaction time to jumping and ducking. (it's clunky. Working on a more subtle version but it's proving tricky with the speed of the mine cart levels. )
Still issues all over the place and planned enemies/bosses/collectables.
04/14/2025
Been a little slow to update lately. Prettied up more levels and added a few more scenes. Tweaked some code and added a few Easter egg areas for testing. Working out smooth transitions between levels. A little glitchy but serviceable.
